NewsComputer Science Program at Rice ranks No. 1 in the country in faculty productivityNovember 14, 2007 -- Rice University’s graduate program in Computer Science has been ranked the No. 1 program in the nation, according to the third annual Faculty Scholarly Productivity Index, which appears in the Nov. 16 issue of the Chronicle of Higher Education. The annual index by Academic Analytics, a company partially owned by the State University of New York at Stony Brook, ranks graduate programs at 375 research universities based on per-capita scholarly accomplishment. The productivity is measured by an analysis of the number of book and journal articles published by each program’s faculty, as well as journal citations, awards, honors and federal grants they have received. Other computer science programs that placed in the top 10 are Stanford University, the University of California-Berkeley, Carnegie Mellon University, Princeton University, the University of Pennsylvania, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, California Institute of Technology, and the University of California-Los Angeles.
